چکیده

Introduction Up regulation of coagulation factors is a less understood phenomenon in congestive heart failure. Existing literature supports the fact that levels of von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, ICAM, PECAM, P-selectin, d-dimer, fibrinogen, vascular cell adhesion molecules and platelet aggregation are significantly elevated in congestive heart failure [1-8]. The most frequently noted complication in congestive heart failure involves thromboembolism [9] which suggests pathological aberrations in the coagulation pathway as the disease progresses.

Relationship between Cognitive Function, Depression/Anxiety and Functional Parameters in Patients Admitted for Congestive Heart Failure

UNLABELLED Cognitive impairment, anxiety and depression have been described in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). We analyzed in-hospital CHF patients before discharge with neuropsychological tests attempting to correlate with prognostic parameters. METHODS All subjects underwent a mini mental state examination (MMSE), geriatric depression scale (GDS), anxiety and depression scale ...

Relationship between thoracic fluid content and natriuretic peptide type B in patients with systolic heart failure.

BACKGROUND Thoracic fluid content (TFC) is one of the basic parameters measured by impedance cardiography (ICG). The B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a neuroendocrine mediator produced in the ventricular myocardium and released in response to the increase of wall tension. AIM To determine the relationship between TFC measured by ICG and BNP serum level in patients with systolic heart failu...

Correlation Between Levels of N-terminal Pro-B-Type Natriuretic Peptide and Degrees of Heart Failure

BACKGROUND The N-terminal fragment of pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide (NT-pro BNP) is a neuro-hormone synthesized in the cardiac ventricles in response to increased wall tension. The purpose of this study was to assess the correlation between the NT-pro BNP levels and the New York Heart Association function class (NYHA Fc) of dyspnea and echocardiographic findings for the patients who visited our...

Effect of Exercise Training on Heart Rate Variability in Patients with Heart Failure After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Background: This study aims to evaluate the effect of exercise training on heart rate variability (HRV) and to determine the correlation between parameters of HRV and the ejection fraction in patients with heart failure after percutaneous coronary intervention.Material and Methods: Fifty patients with left ventricular ejection fraction ≤ 40% undergone percutaneous coronary intervention were r...

Prognostic factors of mid-term clinical outcome in congestive heart failure patients discharged after acute decompensation

INTRODUCTION Risk stratification in congestive heart failure (CHF) patients is based on a variety of clinical and laboratory variables. We analysed renal function, BNP, water composition, echocardiographic and functional determinations in predicting mid-term outcome in CHF patients discharged after decompensation. MATERIAL AND METHODS All subjects with NYHA class II-IV were enrolled at hospit...
